You know that friend or family member who makes “barbecue” in their Crockpot and then asks your opinion and how it compares to honest-to-goodness ‘cue? And your momma told you if you can’t say something nice…
Well. Ahem. Cough. Hmmm.
I am sure there are folks out there who love the barbecue at The Bar-B-Cue Hut and good on them for their dedication, but all y’all connoisseurs of ‘cue would be disappointed. The sandwich is pressed. Yes. Pressed liked a grilled cheese so the exterior bun is hard to the touch and crunchy. To keep it warm, maybe? The pork was different from bite to bite like they’d chopped in some of yesterday’s meat to make it go further. This was odd as one bite was moist/tender and the next would be dry/tough. Overall bland without any sign of red pepper anywhere, it lacked any zing. And zero smoke. Nada. The slaw was tasty, but it was warm after being in the toaster press. Been here. Done that. Don’t need to do it again. 3/10.
