Sadly, my Kentucky Derby pick, Dornac, didn’t win, but Sarah’s horse won. Mystic Dan! Wow, what a finish!!!
And while I lost a horse bet, I won with sipping one of my favorite all-time bourbons, Col. E.H. Taylor Small Batch, on the screened porch on a gorgeous May day.
This Bottled in Bond classic ticks all my bourbon boxes with a relaxed bite and belated burn. Got lucky in finding/buying this specific bottle in North Carolina some time back and I'm usually a wee bit tentative in drinking too much if I don't have a back-up bottle in hand. Fortunate enough to purchase a second bottle at the airport duty free in Melbourne, Australia back in February this year.
