Well, how do you, Mr. Barbecue? Nice to meat you. And "nice" is a good way to describe your barbecue sandwich. It's one of The N&O's 64 "definitive" BBQ joints, but there was nothing extraordinary or super special about this sandwich from this Winston Salem eatery. It's well, nice.
The meat was savory and tender, but was a way bit too damp for the bun which bogged down under the moisture. It lacked the smoke I expected (so disappointed in that) and there was absolutely no heat at all. I opted for the white slaw instead of the red as I was not really in the mood for catsup-n-cabbage. Since there was a lack of bite without the meat having any of the vinegar and red pepper kick that I love, the slaw slightly overwhelmed the sandwich with its sweet flavor.
Glad I tried it, but I really do not need to ever visit again. However, I may be open to an arm twist in making an introduction with the possibly adorable Miss Chicken. 5/10.
